Does anyone know if the rubber and jute firewall mat goes underneath the 6 holes on the heater box, effectively becoming a seal? Im guessing so because the 6 holes match the 6 holes in the firewall and box. There would seem to be be no other way to do it that I see. Also, has anyone sourced the other type of padding that goes horizontally on the underside of the firewall/top dash panel? Its more like a black baggy with jute on it. Im currently doing a 400 conversion on a 6 banger car, and the firewall on this car is definitely missing some holes. The holes for the rubber mat pushpins and one of the two pins for the carpet hold down trim are strangely absent! Has anyone else noticed this?
For the underside of the bottom of the cowl, I just glued on strips of the cheap bulk jute insulation that all the parts house sell with the foil on one side.
