I posted a few years ago selling my first firebirds... I ended up selling them and now they are going to be featured on Discovery channel's Fast n Loud tv show this season. Looks like they are fully restoring them.
While I am glad this worked out for you and these cars are going to be restored, those guys would be near the bottom of my list to have work on cars of such historical significance. Don't get me wrong, as I like watching them, but their primary motive is to minimize effort and $$$ put into the project to maximize turnaround speed and profit. Back in high school auto shop, we referred to a working style like theirs as "Mickey Mouse".
Thankfully they are much better than those clowns over at Desert Car Kings (for instance), but personally I wish these two cars were being restored by somebody like Scott Tiemann who would take the time and effort to do them right.

Their "solution" for everthing seems to be "air bag it"!

Post some old pictures that you have so we can see what they looked like before they bastardize them.
I honestly have never seen the show, but am hoping they are restored as original as possible.
Salmon38- In a perfect world they would have been restored by a top notch Pontiac guy. Unfortunately, they needed A LOT of money put into them that we didn't have. It was hard to see those cars get worse and worse sitting in our garage for over 20 years. I'm just happy to see something done with them
OHCMarc- I posted on here about these cars a few years ago with pictures, vin plates, data plate info, etc. I would think its archived somewhere... I'll see if I can find the link and post.

You just hate to see these guys get their hands on anything. All they have access to is parts that have been donated for the sponsor money so right or wrong, good or bad, that's what they are going to use. If they have a stereo sponsor they're going to hack in some big ole subs and a DVD in the dash. If they have a wheel sponsor they're going to put some big ole chrome wagon wheels on there. They don't give a crap about value. It's about showcasing the merch. You only hope that the next owner can sell all the crap to finance a decent resto.
Didn't you sell these cars on Ebay? I remember seeing them there. They went for quite a few dollars too. To be honest I don't think they will be restored to there former glory. Not there style. I was looking at the cars but the dollars were not there. You put the cars on ebay to get the most money you could. You have to live with your choice. I really hope they don't ruin them .

I don't think they have shown this episode yet. I watch all episodes of fast and loud. The latest show, where Aaron builds his Falcon race car, I saw a body of what seems to be a gold Firebird or camaro on the background, not restored yet. Is this the car you sold them, Swifebird?
I saw one in the parking lot in the background, then later on the lift with the quarter being replaced. Not sure it was the same car or if they have two Bird builds going on. As busy as the new shop looks now I'd guess they film multiple episodes at once and/or also just turn cars over that aren't part of the show. 50 grand in that Falcon? Redicules.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
Saw the episode last night where they showed up in frigid MN to pick up the Boss Mustang. The yard that had that car was about 15 minutes from my house. Then they proceeded in the other direction to pick up an old Jag that was 15 minutes the other direction from me. Purchased the Jag from one of my clients. Kind of neat.
You could see the gold '67 bird in the yard in quite a few shots. Looks stripped bare as best I could tell.
First time I ever say the show, and I am ready to cringe big time whenever they get around to hacking those two 'birds. Too bad they had to go that way. Should have went to a museum!

To bad it wasn't summer, you could take your car out and have'm chase you down like on the show. Be great tell'n them "heck no its not for sale at any price!"
No, neither firebird was gold. You can look back at the pictures on his site. #1 is a red convertible and #2 is supposed to be a silver 326 H.O. With black top, but actually gray primer and red w/ no front clip. They show a shot of them in their season preview and I also have seen a picture or two on their Facebook page.
They do belong in a museum. Hopefully the new owner will display them somewhere now that they're restored.
Agree, cars with VINs like that would be more value to the right person and or collector. With that being said, your are the one who sold them. Maybe they should have gone to someone with better intentions of where they would end up, or what would become of them.
You cant bash the show for ruining them though. I agree some of their flips have been sloppy at times. But Aaron is a very sharp individual, he just enjoys making things fun his way, living the dream. You gotta remember its a business, they flip cars and make some of them nicely done. If the buyers happy with what they bought, that's great. But most all times, they overpay. Its hard for me to believe what some have payed for some of the cars on that show.. But what can you believe its Television
I was actually born in what was Hollywood at the time and have been in TV productions twice myself and another time with my brother. Thus I know how they fake or Mickey Mouse stuff for the camera.
Thus why I have grave concerns about how these cars are going to end up.

Richard makes a risky deal to restore the first two Firebirds ever made from rusted and rough to museum quality. The buyer offers a handsome deal, but it comes with a crushing deadline and a 10K/day penalty for every day he's late. Aaron learns to race.
WHY o WHY is there ALWAYS an artificial deadline????????????? So they don't make a particular car show? Somebody going to die?

Drama is bad enough. Artificial drama is just stupid.

Artificial deadlines never seem to phase my local body-man when I try that...

for the viewers...make it 'interesting'....I cant stand all these non reality 'reality' shows
That's what I don't get. I've yet to hear of any viewer that likes, or finds interesting, the made up drama on any of those shows. But they all keep doing it. As a viewer I've stopped watching a few of them because of it. Graveyard cars is one of the worst.

The only thing I can figure out is that it must be the traffic accident thing. There must be many people out there that just can't look away.
PS: What self-respecting body/restoration shop would accept a $10 K a day penalty?

With the body shops I use around here and 10K per day for missing deadline , If i had them restored id owe the buyer 3M when it was all said and done . Thats why I sold them.
My God, the show hasn't even run yet and the BS is sky high. That article makes it sound like RR stumbled upon the cars "abandoned in a barn". Nothing at all about our fellow FGF member trying for quite a while to sell them.
