I overheated last night after about 25 min on the freeway. Was running between 200 and 210 on the freeway, which is too hot but not unusual for my car. Pulled into downtown and in stop and go traffic looking for a parking spot the needle went sky high.
Got it checked out by my shop this morning and they say everything is working as it should - pressure good, good differential between water in and water out of the radiator, and installed new 160 degree thermo.
So the thinking is maybe the existing 2 row radiator isn't enough. Anyone had experience upgrading to a larger unit? What's the recommendation?
The 68 400 should have a four row. Also all your sheet metal, deflector, fan shroud has to be in place. That would be first to confirm.
X2, make sure you have the upper panels and the lower one in place as well. Put a good 4 core in with all metal in place and the issue should go away.

So it appears Im missing the lower baffle. Do you guys know if the fiberglass repro ones work ok? Seems like those are easy to find. Haven't seen a metal one yet.

The fiberglass used to be too short but could be installed with crummy-looking modifications. Maybe they have a new mold for the fiberglass by now or maybe not. Here's a comparison of an original steel to the fiberglass with the other ends lined up:
The fiberglass ones don't fit at all. And they tend to explode if you even bump a curb. Metal ones are still out there, but getting very bard to find. Send me a PM if you need an original.

Update: Went with an aluminum 2 row 1.25" tube radiator, lower baffle (Thanks 68Tpls400!), and an OE style fan blade (vs the flex blade that was on there).
Test drove about 45 min on the freeway at 2 in the afternoon in 115 degree heat and never got over 195.
