So the car is at the shop and the guy sends me pictures of the progress. To me it looks like the 428 badge is off in terms of where it should be on the trunk lid. I always that it was lined up with the pontiac lettering toward the bottom of the trunk lid. Thoughts? I am told he used his own reference photos that say the badge is placed correctly. Of course he is wrong.

Yep, its in the wrong spot. My body guy did the same thing because there are a couple indentations at that loction suggesting it would go there. Rather it fits more on the seam line of the curved part of the trunk (like where the pontiac letters line up) My guy had to move it and reweld the spots up.

Way too high and above the bottom trunk edge.

Yeh, I was thinking this thread was worthless without photos. Had to wait for the caffeine to kick in first
This is a very original '67 400 4-speed 'vert that somebody sent me references photos of:

Ken from Midwest posted some photos of a beautiful 68 400 that had just been restored. I felt bad for the owner and did not say anything.

I can provide more pictures including mine with it's original trunk lid. Or you can show him the trim manual: http://www.thefirstgensite.com/html/trimdex.htm

I noticed you can buy an actual template. I would hate to do that just to prove him wrong and still have him say no to fixing his mistake.
Thanks for the help so far everyone! I will keep you updated but I have a feeling he isn't going to fix this.

I can send you a photo of my mounted trunk lid showing all the factory holes if you wish. I have all my trim off for an eventual paint job and it's in primer. So the holes are very apparent.

Blackbird / Harold - wow i never noticed that on the photo I took of the Burgandy 68. I too feel bad for our member.
Thank goodness my '67 is in the right spot (and it is a clone).
Blackbird, let's talk more about this when I see you Saturday - sorry he is fighting you on it.

Here is my original 400 hood with the 400 holes. Disregard the big hole above the two small holes as this was a spoiler the PO put in. You can see the markings from where the emblem was before it was added on the spoiler. Mark.

Pics from my unrestored original paint 68s trunk are included in the link in my signature area. I would not be happy if that happened to me.
