Anyone know for sure where the Jacking Instruction w. Space Saver Tire Decal (68 Convertible) was situated on the trunk lid. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture before starting the restoration.
Thanks Gus. Yes, I believe the coupe and convertible were different. I only had one decal (not the Inflation Instruction in your pic) and I seem to think it was located on the right, above the space saver tire.
From pictures i have seen over the years, they tended to just slap those on wherever they felt. But that general area looks correct.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. My convert also has one in the center but not the inflation sticker. I still have my original paint on the inside of the trunk lid.
(I'm still trying to determine why some got that double/split valve stem on the SpaceSaver and some did not.)

stickers were different (if car had space saver , an additional) , location "approximately" the same ,as it was not a very specific location , just "slapped on" there...
Thanks guys - could be that there's not a right or wrong answer. Going to keep researching it though. 90% sure mine was on the right hand side, inside the large triangular area shown in Jim's pic. Only wish I had taken a picture.
Well, so much for memory! I finally found a picture and the decal was in the middle - I was wrong. Interesting to note, however, that the original decal differs slightly from the reproduction available from AMES and other suppliers. The new decal says 9793492 - REV. 1, so apparently they added some additional wording for safety purposes. The bottom of the old decal simply says CONVERTIBLE, while the revision adds: See Owner's Manual For Replacement of Inflator and also inludes a "Space Saver Spare logo with a large "S" being the first letter in the words "Space Saver Spare". Original does not have such a logo. The original had a white on blue lettered warning in the center of the decal: CAUTION-SET BRAKE BEFORE JACKING. The revision has that but adds: "FOR INFLATION INSTRUCTIONS REFER TO INFLATOR PACKAGE FOR TIRE INF:LATION INSTRUCTIONS. It seems that the original decals are obsolete - at least so far I have not been able to find one.
Interesting. I believe my original may be more like the repro than your original. I can look closer if you want but mine is very faded but does have the large "S" logo, in the center the reference to the owner's manual, and it may have a very small faded rev 1 in the bottom right corner. Here's an old picture of it from my file.

Thanks Jim. Could well be that later 68 production convertibles got a revised decal that reflected additional safety verbage with the new logo. Mine was a late 67 build, purchased in January 68.
Could be. Mine was a Jan '68 build. Did your Space Saver get that double valve or the single like mine?
You may be on to something. My September '67 car has the double valve spacesaver and the original spacesaver sticker.
