Just registered here. Been reading alot since I bought my 68 bird a couple weeks ago. In the process of getting it PHS certified to see what I have. I know it's a v8 car by the vin but it has a 160 speedometer and a hurst dual gate shifter. It was also special ordered a metallic blue. I hope to know exactly what I have soon.

Does it still have the original paint? Pics?

Welcome, I lived in Hendersonville for a couple years and Nashville for a couple after that while attending grad school.

FWIW, all '68s had the 160 MPH speedo, someone more learned on the manual shifters will have to chime in. There were 5 regular shades of blue(when you include meridian turquoise) and one special order shade, windward blue.

Ok. That's the stuff I'm trying to learn about. Ive owned 1st gen camaros but always loved the birds too. I gotta get a red book or some other info source and learn about these.

You can learn a lot hanging out here and reading other people's questions and answers. One thing you'll learn is firebirds are superior to camaros mechanically
