Question for you all, and I think I know the answer although my fingers are crossed....
The rear leaf spring upper shackle mount bushings (ones on the subframe next to the gas tank), are those a single press in bushing or a 2 piece like my replacments? Do I need to drop the gas tank to get these out?
If I recall correctly the bushing are two piece and if I recall correctly I didn't have to drop my tank to get them out unless someone possibly put them in the wrong way (if that is possible) and one of the bolts that hold the shackles on is facing the tank and cannot be pulled out all the way without dropping it.
Ok, I will try to pry them out separately. I am not worried about the bolts, they both came out without an issue, although I would have cut them anyways since I have replacments from hotchkiss.
Yea, they really were. They were original 67 bushings so not only were they shot but seized in also. I was able to get 1 of the 4 pieces out without dropping the tank but the others wouldn't budge. I finally dropped the tank and had to make some special pieces to press out the old ones and the new ones in. Luckily I am used to fabricating small parts for my jeep.
Unfortunately I had to put things on hold for 2 weeks because I had to go to Korea for work. I will be home in a few days and will get back at it.
