I've had my original Harrison fixed a couple times now. Time for a new radiator. I want to keep it an original 4-row copper/brass radiator.
Looking for recommendations on what's a good replacement and where to purchase?
It's a stock 67 400, auto, non-AC

Find a place that will re-core it, keeping the original tanks. Not that expensive.

I have no intentions of getting rid of the original. But it's the tanks that keep leaking. I've had them repaired twice now. Reaches a point where enough is enough. I just want to drive the dam thing...

I got the Desert Cooler from Ames. It was a PIA to install and I had to shim the bracket so the tank would clear the opening in the core support. Turns out the width of the tanks are wrong. There was a thread a while back discussing who sells the correct radiator. The moral of the story is: Don't buy a Desert Cooler

Strange thing is I have one in my car and it fits perfectly. I got mine back in 2006

Here's a thought, are you using the "well" nuts to fasten the radiator to the core support on the drivers side?
If not, get some before you reinstall the repaired or new radiator.
The "well" nuts allow for the expansion of the radiator, without them it adds extra stress on the core and tanks and you end up with cracks and leaks.

Here is the Desert Cooler installed. Note the shims required to clear the opening. The tank is too wide.

The seam on my tanks sits in the same relation to the uprising opening on the core.
Measured from inside of the L bracket.
^Swiped your picture. I effen hate win-10! My best guess: 13/16” on mine.
^Bracket wraps around the tank, about 3 3/4” depending on how you hold your mouth.
You know what kind of hater I am, so I'm trying to blame it on installer error, but no dice on that one because I don't see how to get it closer, at least not yet;) Is the core a repro?
Throw those numbers at it, and report.

It's definitely wrong. The tank is too wide. In another thread, somebody else found the correct radiator with the narrower tank. Not sure if all Desert Coolers are wrong or I just got screwed. At the time I just assumed that's the way it was supposed to be and made it work. I won't mess with it until I have to replace it again, hopefully several years down the road. My point in this is to let people know to avoid the Desert Coolers or at least make sure they provide the right radiator.

Another radiator recommendation needed...
I have an original 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 4BL MT non AC with original engine. The water runs hot (180-220) with 15 minutes of driving, so I’m thinking of replacing the radiator. The fan shroud, fan, spacer, etc. are all original and to specs. I don’t want to run an electric fan, so I’m looking for the best radiator out there that will hopefully bolt up without needing any modifications. Something close to original, but I’m willing to modify if keeps the temperature down. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think we need to think about a few things. Pontiac 400 uses a 190 thermostat. It starts to open between 187-193 and fully open not to exceed 222. So that range is normal for these cast iron engines.
Did you check temperatures with a infrared thermometer or are you using a guage in the car that may be inaccurate?

X2 with what oldskool said! I have a Cold case and fit is PERFECT and you cant beat a 2 row with 1.25 wide tubes for cooling!
