I'm about to replace the rear springs, have the springs and shackle kit. The bushings in my kit look too wide, haven't moved the car into the garage yet so can't check. Any one know the dimensions of the rear bushings. Moog calls for a K6559 bushing, my kit came with HB1000 bushings. Don't know who's part number that is or if it's the same as the Moog K6559. I'd like to make sure I get all the parts correct before I move the wife's car out into the rain and start the job. My bushings have a 9/16" inside diameter, 1-9/16" diameter that fits into spring, 1-3/8" length that slides into spring eye, a total length of 2-3/8 and a 1-7/8" diameter shoulder. I can't find the dimensions of the Moog K6559 bushing anywhere. Thanks for any help.
Don't worry if they seem longer than they should be. Once you assemble then Tighten down the shackles they compress and fit the spring eyes nice and snug they way they should. You don't want them sloppy and loose.
I don't know how common it is but I ran into some poly bushing that were not coned shaped and thus had no articulation when tightened up at the shackle. It road like a hay rack. The Hotchkis springs on the other hand moved freely on the shackled when tightened. I also had some other springs that I compared and the rubber bushing were coned shaped on the end. The shackled should tighten down to the metal insert in the bushing and be able to move.
