I'm trying to find some information on the Inner fender splash shield bracket seal. What does this seal look like and how is it installed on the bracket. This is the little bracket that get bolted to the inner fender brace.
I have both Inner fender splash shield brackets but can not find the seals. Do these attach to the fenderwell seal, that is attached to the inner fender?
Performance years shows one firewall to inner fender seal that comes in the engine compartment splash shield kit. but not sure if this attaches to the Inner fender splash shield bracket seal.
I just got the a-frame seal and the fenderwell seal installed.

I have the splash shield kit and it does only come with one firewall to inner fender shield. I was told it only goes on the driver side below the firewall electrical connector inboard side. But, i have seen diagrams where it shows both, one on each side. They connect at the firewall where your inner fenders connect to the firewall. I will try and find a pic to post for ya.
Thanks. I came across this photo. I removed the two brackets, one on each side but the seals had already disintegrated.
From the photo, it looks like there is a couple clips and it looks like two staples for the bracket. But there is two other staple on the inside edge that I do not see what thost get stapled to.
YES, thats it, I am assuming you found it in this post? Splash Shield
I did some research months ago and I couldnt find much on this shield. Did you buy new brackets or are you using the old ones? I am asking cause I need to buy the driver side bracket to put my shield on and I havent looked for months, but I didnt find any before.
I think I have one or two extra brackets with portions of the rubber shield remaining if anyone needs them.

yes, I believe you need a right and a left. I know I have at least one. But I don't remember which side. I may have both, can't remember. They (it) were blasted and epoxy primered.
I will look (in my spare time) to see what I have. Might be a few days or so.

Yes that is the one I found. It appears there is one for the left and right. I am reusing mine but I saw Ames Performance has the bracket but does not list the shields except for the one for the drivers side.
Ames Performance part numbers are FP416L and FP416R

Cool, I need just the left side (driver side) and I am not an any hurry so I can wait. Thanks
I would think the shields would be interchangeable left to right. (mirror image) They are just a slotted rubber. You could likely just cut them from some rubber or vinyl sheets.

Hmm, I do not think I have those on my car. You mean you didn't notice that when you saw my car Craig? Just something else to put on the list I guess!
Dave
OOpS! just sold them to Ordy... Sorry! It was hard to look down there through all the steam your engine was producing...

So, I found that there was at least one on my car when they took it apart. Not sure if it is there now, but I know the splash shield is not there. Have to buy the whole kit to get one I guess, huh? Picture here:
It looked to me that Ames had seperate pieces of shields, or all together in one kit.

They only have the two pieces on the right separate. They are not showing the one on the left only.
But I do not understand if the one on the left goes on this bracket, why do they only have one when the birds have two of these brackets. I thought they were suppose to cover the cowl body mount area.
Also with the size of that piece none of the survivors I've seen comes close to having that much rubber left.

That is a good question Harold, I have been wondering that myself. The assy manual shows the pass side on the drawing and does list both shields for the left and right side. It is hard to make out the part numbers cause the copies are so bad, but looks like the left side part number is 9792559 and right side is 9792558. This is for the 69 model, so I dont know if it is the same for a 67-68 models. One thing I will add, is that it looks like the drawings isnt showing the bracket and shield as a serperate item. I shows it as one item for each side and the part numbers I listed are called the shield assy.
Those are the part numbers I have. When you compare the size of the seal in the parts catalogue it seems the seal is smaller then the one they are selling.
I emailed Ames to see what seals are suppose to be attached to those brackets and if they have them. I've not heard back yet.
Did you ever hear back from Ames Harold? So you would have to buy two full kits to just get the two splash shields that are supposed to go on the driver and pass side? Also, where do you get the "clips" that also seem to be on that picture you posted.
Can anyone send me a picture of this bracket/shield on their car? I am just not seeing anything, but it looks like it was on there at one time based on the picture from the guy that did the restoration...but not sure it ever got put back on.
Dave I never heard back from Ames. I looked at a firebird this past weekend and the splash shield that was attached to the inner fender splash shield bracket was a small rectangle piece that curled up on the frame and the bracket held it in place. I may have to get the inner finder on to se just exactly the size and shape that it will be needing. I may buy just the a-frame splash shield set and make it from it.
I attached the photo of the right side but it is sort of dark and you have to look close.
For some reason I thought it was only on the drvr side as well. I will tke a look today and see what's on mine. I'm fairly sure that peticular part has never been molested.

Still would like an answer to this question Harold.
Someone over on PY answered his question pointing him towards NPD. But his memory was a bit fuzzy, just like mine. Check it out over there.

I talked to Adam at ames performance. The inner splash shield in the photo, far left. He is going to sell some individually and post them up on his website yesterday. Part number is FP3.
Was looking back at the tear down pics from my car again, and it looked like the bracket went "behind" the inner fender spacer sheet metal. So you had the inner fender then the bracket, and then the inner fender spacer sheet metal and then the bolts. Is that right? Picture here:
I asked the question and forgot to check back. Thanks Harold and everyone for all the reply's and good info. My 69 has remnants of the square piece on the bracket attachments like the picture Dave posted (carmutt). I would love to find if these are reproduced. It seems like these were interfere with the "5th" seal?
I know this is a old post but I have my original inner fender splash shields with the original rubber unmolested well maybe a little bit lol.I have some pictures after cleaned them up and repainted them. And that 5th piece is not part of these and I never saw that on my 69 firebird
I want to revisit this topic as I have recently acquired an original bracket with the seal and clip. What I didn't know was the original seal was stapled to a separate bracket that you don't see in that restored picture posted in this thread. Interesting as I thought mine were original, but apparently not. Take a look. I understand that the passenger side did not have this type of seal, only the smaller one to block the frame bolt opening in the firewall from water/dirt etc...
