Good morning. When I purchased my '68, there is a trailer hitch (w/o ball joint) attached to the vehicle. The top of it reads '67-'68 Firebird with some other writing I have to go back and look at. It is secured to the hind end with two large bolts connected to two steel pieces that run to about mid way of the frame. Is anyone familiar with this add on as an option at that time? I saw a thread that mentioned it from a couple of years ago and Firebob replied with price quotes. If you should read this Sir, where did you find those quotes or are they suggested/ requested? Thanks and have a great day.
I'll see about remembering to post a picture of it and the set up later on today.

I have never seen any Pontiac documentation reference to a factory trailer hitch in 1968.
The post you are probably referring to is; "trunk luggage rack" where a hitch is mentioned but not as a factory option. (I found it with a search for hitch .)
I had a couple of original '68's with dealer added trailer hitches back in the late '70's - early '80's. Big, heavy, ugly thing. Bolted to the bottom of the rear bumper, and had a huge curved brace that went under the gas tank and bolted to the floor pan behind the rear seat. Were the first parts ripped off the cars and scrapped. There were a couple of these for sale a few years back, either on this site or Epay. I can't remember.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay. Yep that’s the posting thread and here are a couple of shots attached. Didn’t care for the look myself until I got closer and saw the etching. If it is authentic, I’ll leave it on just because it says ‘67 ‘68 Firebird but if it is non affiliated after market I’ll probably take it off. Let me know if y’all can find out more than I have. Take care. Roy.
That valuation that I posted was probably based on what I had seen them sell or listed for back in 2012. No idea if value has changed any in the last 7 years. Probably not. I still just stack my spare tires on the fold down and go.
