Mine didn't have a dome light when I bought the car. I found a couple wires in the trunk and with some help from this site, thank you Gus and Catalina, felt my way around the liner until I found the spot to secure the base. I got a dome light assy from one of the aftermarket vendors, forget which. Last week I was working on the clutch pedal linkage for about a half hour-45 minutes, the lamp burned a hole in the bottom of the cheap plastic lens. Are there gas ones out there, or a heavy duty one somewhere? This one is paper thin and very flimsy I'd hate to think of what may have happened If the light was accidently left on overnight.
There are LED conversion kits out there for our FGF's. I got mine from Classic Industries.
When I bought my car it was obvious that the dome light had been on too long once as both the lens and the plastic base were melted.

I have converted everything in my house, shop and soon to be cars to LED tech for lighting. Takes much less power, last longer and are very cool to the touch. You need to invest time to properly understand what type of LED's to get. Many options available for size, power output, color etc.
Switching to LED's will save your $100's of dollars a year in power bills. They are amazing. I have some light's I don't even bother to shut them off.
Prices vary greatly so shop around.
