Hi guys, I’m having a hard time figuring out what is going on with the front suspension on my 68 vert. I have the engine out right now and noticed it was sitting way higher on drivers side. I could push down on suspension on passenger side and watch upper a-arm move up and down like it’s supposed to. When I went to drivers side I pushed down and got no movement at all. I put front end up on jack stands and car is level, so it’s not a frame issue. I measured from the hub to the ground and the drivers side is 1-1/2” higher than passenger side. If I put a jack under passenger side hub I can get suspension to flex up and down. Not so on drivers side. The only difference I can see between two sides, is passenger side does not have rubber bumper on upper a-arm. Drivers side does. Distance between upper and lower arms is same on both sides. Springs on both sides look like they are seated correctly and compressed about the same. It feels like something has the drivers side in a bind. Does anybody have an idea what I should do to figure this out? Thanks.

The rubber bumper on the upper A-arm is a stop that controls how much the suspension "drops" when you lift the car. When you have the engine out of the car, the drivers side expands until the rubber bumper stops the movement. The pressure of the spring makes it hard to flex this side up and down.

The passenger side spring can expand a bit further, since there no rubber bumper there. When the spring can expand a bit more, it doesn't feel as "hard" as on the drivers side. Therefore it is easier to flex the passenger side up and down.

Try fitting a rubber bumper to the passenger side before you take things further. I'm pretty sure it will solve your problem.
