It may depend on the years of each block. Some blocks have motor mount bolt holes that are NOT interchangeable with other years and blcoks. These may require adapter plates for some chassis.
You need to make sure the motor mounts from one car can swap onto the block in the other.
how about if the tranny th350 is beefed up? I have seen people using the th350 behind 455's. I dont plan on running fat slicks that hook up well. would it grenade during shifts?
Also, the engine is actually a 1969 428, not a 455.
So are there any flywheel or torque converter differences between the th350 and th400?
Do you really think she will be happy driving a 69 Catalina? Even if it has a 428 in it? Then I could sell the 98 Silverado (her baby) and have more money for the firebird!
My husband thought I was nuts wanting a Le Mans until he saw the response it gets while out cruising. It's a hardtop, and still draws as much or more attention than the 'bird.
Ask her what she thinks. If the car runs now, take it for a spin. I forgot how nice it was to have elbow, leg, and headroom combined with trunk space all in the same car. I can put three hockey bags, half a dozen hockey sticks, a cooler full of beverages and a couple of folding chairs in the trunk, no problem. It's great for carpooling to hockey, and even the 15 and 16 year olds like riding along. It's way cooler than a minivan, and more economical to own, insure, drive and maintain than my SUV.
