I keep seeing bumper jacks going up for sale, and they are listed as fitting 67,68,69 Firebirds, then the adds say something like make sure you check to see if this is the right jack for your car. Can someone out there please set the record straight? Are bumper jacks for 67,68, and 69 firebirds interchangeble?
they are all the same jerry.some people are anal and need certain date codes on the jack for concourse restorations.if you need a bumper jack for your car i have a few.
Thanks Terry. I definetly need one. It doesn't have to be concourse quality, as long as it looks decent and serves it's function, it would be just fine. If you can, e-mail a quote to me. If not I'll get in touch with you.
Jerry, don't buy one to "serve its function". Buy it for looks, and lift with a scissor jack under the designated lifting points. Use of a bumper jack leads to crooked bumpers, just ask Bjorn.

Thanks for that advice Vikki. That was something I overlooked, and I think it explains a few things about my rear bumber. Thanks again, for saving me from a few costly headaches.
Jerry
Terry, I'll get in touch with you as soon as I can. The console should be here tomorrow. Quality parts, and Superfast Shipping , Great First Gener. Would buy from again, AAA+++. Sorry, I felt the need to leave a little feedback.
that is a good point i overlooked vikki,i did not think anybody bought them to change a tire, they are always there for looks.i have a floor jack i use for my bird.i have never kept a bumper jack in the trunk of any of my birds
I use a floor jack in the garage, but carry a little scissor jack, a wheel chock and a 12v compressor to fill the compact spare in case of emergency. The only bad thing is that the locking lug socket won't fit the lug wrench that fits the rest of the lugs, so I have to carry a second lug wrench to fit that socket.

OK Jerry, ever seen those bumper ends tilting down/forward? You probably have....maybe yours does that too... Its not by design ,its from using the bumper jacks...it bends the bumper , or it slides in its elongated boltholes where its attached.. BUT you CAN fix it ... John , "Hammered", gave me good advise on how to fix it.... IF your bumper ends tilt down on the front (most prevalent on 69`s , longer ends) you loosen all the bolts, two at ea end ,and I think it was one under the tail lights plus two at center...jack the car up on a lift, put a 2 x 4 under the end and lower the car again...then tighten the bolts as its straight under the load... I had to do mine twice , PLUS stick a couple of washers as shims under the center ones ,at the gas filler area...
So, as Vikki say ,dont USE the jack, just have for 'show'...I use a floor jack in my garage and have a "fixaflat" in my glove box....
