triple green? it would have had the same color scheme as my 350 (as it was orig.),... midnight green , dark green int and top?
didnt even check my tag no`s to see if that matches...

It did not match TOHCan's missing number 8's vin.

sorry Jim , I screwed up...I thought it was the last two as in 70 of 541170 ...theres more numbers ...LOL

Maybe you could ask Joe to ask Jim if he has heard of any 69 Firebirds with a factory TA spoiler. We could get a idea how rare it is.

One thing for certain, there's no place on the order form for you to order a rear spoiler. Seems like there had to be some strings pulled to even get it separate from the Trans Am package. How would they even figure a price? Which brings up the question of how is it going to be called out on the PHS? The D80 on the tag shows that it was official. Maybe the PHS will come back showing the TA option with lack of a better way to describe it. PHS says TA it's number nine.

Having run two dealerships for 7 years , I know salesmen will do ANYTHING to make a sale....give a price , any price , pull one out of thin air!

PHS does not show deletes. If the guy bought it as a TA delete everything else but the spoiler it will look like it's a complete TA on the PHS. My 79 TA was order as a TA delete the front spoiler and I would have never known the delete without the build sheet under the seat. Dave says the seat and the gas tank are long gone so the broadcast sheet is long gone.

Yah, mine too. With 2500 visitors a day it seems like someone would chime in and say, "I saw that before". Yellowbird thinks it will be handwritten in on the PHS 'D80' unavailable spoiler. If it comes back with a WS6, WOO HOO!

Jim, the Pontica mag article I read refferd to bogus t/a's and oddities. According to what I read, one could order a D80. (As you know, some options came in groups, whereby you could not order just one thing without getting the whole package.)

The D80, however, was an option that could be ordered by itself. One of the core points of the article was warning people that there were D80 cars, and the D80 option did not mean it was a t/a.

You see, this is what's happening now. People are saying that if it's a D80, it's a t/a. According to the article, it isn't so, the reason why it would be nice if someone would thumb through their collection of Pontiac mags. You don't have to go page by page though the mags because it's one of the headlines on the cover. All you would have to do is take a look at the covers. I don't remember the exact wording, but it would jump out if one were looking at the covers for the article.

I could not find the D80 article. I did find the TA oddities article. We will have to wait for the docs from PHS.

As the TA, and the spoiler, were not released until mid-year, the dealer brochure and order form would not have information on these items. Yet, obviously, they were available...there was likely a dealer bulletin and possibly a supplemental brochure.

A friend of mine has Jim Mattisons cell phone number and he just left a message. We will get his thoughts in a few.

As a side note that really has nothing to do with this, Someone told me there was also a '69 Firebird convertible used on the television program "I Dream Of Jeannie" that had a
1969 T/A hood, side air extractors and a T/A style rear spoiler.The car was bright green.
Does anyone know if that was a real trans am
or remember seeing it on the tv show?

I remember the episode was filmed outdoors and had the dog "Gin Gin" tearing the uniform off the Major.

The tag was a fake. The D80 was added. Let us rename this post "Fun with pictures".

You keep telling yourself that Jim your just pissed because I wouldnt sell it to you! If,I ever did decided to sell it you would be the first one with his wallet out...Its funny you were acting as my buddy calling me & emailing me 4-5 times a day until you found out it not for sale and then all of a sudden its a fake...To me it sounds more like your a flake! :rolleyes: :p

So, what did the PHS docs say?

Here is a recap: The guy, pontiac10th, comes up with this incredible trim tag. I jump through hoops trying to help him. It comes to my attention that the D80 on the tag was added with some photo tricks. That's after I bring it to the owner of PHS's attention. He about laughs at me for believing it. I post the results on this site. Then I get hammered with negitive ratings. And the guy personally attacks me and it's left stand. Not one member has even tried to help. One administrator even goes to the extent to say that if I don't believe you I will condemn you. That's what makes this site so special. Adios!

This is America where you are innocent until proven guilty. What proof do we have from either of you as to who is correct. Why should we believe one or the other. The picture is blurred and of low quality so it is hard to see anything correctly. There is speculation of it being altered. Who is the expert that determined it fake?
This is a very interesting car if real. A one in a lifetime find.
I myself would like one of you two to step up to the plate and give the rest of us some proof so we can put this to bed.
