Where can I get factory assembly manuals for 67 and 68 firebirds,as I'm starting to reassembly my 68 convertible and the 67 coupe will be next, I'm sure I'll need one.
You can't get the Factory Assembly Manual for '67 or '68 Firebirds. Rev is thinking about the Service Manuals
The best you can do is the '69 Firebird Assembly manual or '67 Camaro manual. I got the '69 FB one through Classical Pontiac and I believe that seller is now putting them on E-bay. I got the '67 Camaro Assembly manual off of e-bay and I find it's actually more helpful - and definitely more legible than the '69 Firebird Manual.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
I purchased the manuals on CD from Detroit Iron via Classic maybe?. Not sure they would be considered assembly directions, but it did include the Fisher Body manual.
As salmon38 says, there are no '68 Assembly Manuals available. I've been looking for years now. If there are any originals out there somewhere, they are being held onto tightly and stealthily.
I have a copy of the service manual and assembly manual electronically, which is has chapters which allows easy finding of what your looking for. They are large files, but I could send them to you if you pm me with your email.
I recall finding these on a website which had a yellow firebird conv't 400 auto...before knowing about this website, and some people on it, I think it's yellowbird's car, and her homepage?
Yep, I do still have it online, http://www.abilitypc.com/photos/firebird/ and scroll down to the bottom of the page, or email me directly at yellowbird@thefirstgensite.com for the download link. Big file, you need DSL, cable modem or better.

Vikki, That is very good information and one of my most used documents; however the document you lable as "Assembly Manual" appears to be the Illustrations Section from the Parts Book. (I use the '72 version)
From what I have seen for the '67 Camaro, an Assembly Manual is quite different from the Illustration Section. It provided details on the assembly of the vehicle. For example, from the '67 Camaro Manual:
I know (now) that it's not the "Assembly" manual. But in 2003, before I found this forum and its knowledgable people, I found and posted this document.
I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the real Assembly manual. I also just purchased a copy of the '67 Firebird supplement and will scan it and post it as soon as I complete it.
JM, have at it...and while you are at it, look at some of the other goodies I have posted in the "Library" at http://thefirstgensite.com

I was not trying to be critical. The info you have at your site is the best stuff there is for understanding our cars. I guess I like to dwell on the Assembly Manual subject in hopes that some day someone will volunteer to share one of the rumored '68 versions that are hidden somewhere.
I will gladly accept and share ALL Firebird information that anyone would care to contribute. And any Pontiac or Camaro info that is also applicable to our cars.

Vikki, I saw the '67 Camaro Assembly Manual on line a couple years ago. I will look for it again. I downloaded parts of it at the time. I understand that there is a '69 Firebird Assembly Manual available. It would probably be closer to all our 1st Gens than the Camaro version.
Some Camaro resources that I use are: A good Camaro discussion group similar to yours and this one: (The Body Shop discussion has some good reference information.) http://www.camaros.net/forums/
