I picked up an eldelbrock SP2P manifold cheap. Anyone have any experience with this manifold. It is a spreadbore aluminum manifold. Is this a precursor to the performer? Runners look smaller than factory 4-brl.
From what I remember, and or have heard it was kind of the precursor to the performer. It is still a sought after manifold for the nastalga buff... I've heard good things about them. But you may be right? They may be more restrictive... at least compared to a performer etc...
Some one here might have better info for you. But I hope this helps a bit?
I have worked with these before, not wonderful. yes the runners are smaller, given the fact that the Pontiac is a torque engine, one would assume this is a good thing. Not so. The OEM intakes work far better than the sp2p, considering the fact. intake is too small already! It was a short lived design from Edelbrock for a good reason! Hope this helps you out some. Jeff
I've read lots of time you can't get much better than a stock 4 barrel Pontiac intake. Maybe the edelbrock Performer might be slightly better. It's important that you match the block to the intake, if you have a 1972 block, try to locate a 1972 intake.
