I have four 15x8 Rally II rims that I would like to use on my 68 Firebird. Was wondering if anyone had tried this size rim all around a first gen. before? If so, what size tires worked the best. Thought about a set of BF Goodrich T/A's - maybe 225/60/R15 front and 245/60/R15 rear?
15x8 will not work..There is not enough clearance. I have 255 60 15's on 15x7's on back and the tires rub the outer lip..Unless you mini tub, 15x8 will not work.

Minitubs are used to gain clearance on the inside of the tire....ie. towards the frame rail. This is mainly used for wheels with more backspacing, thus allowing you to "tuck" the wheels in under the quarters. If you are experiencing minor rubbing you can roll the lip on the wheels well opening to give more clearance just inside the quarter panel.
I've got a 69 firebird with 15x8 and 295/50/15 on the rear with no rubbing problems. I rolled the outer lip and my back spacing is right at 5 inches. So, those wheels MAY work on your car. Measure the back spacing, the measure the distance from the inner fender to a straight line across the mounting surface of your drums. You should be able to fit a 255/60/15 tire on a 15x8 in under the quarter panel with no problem depending on back spacing.
I have 15x8 on my 68. I had a extra leaf added to the rear springs. I then had the springs re- arked to only raise the rear end about 21/2". I have not had a rubing problem. However, it does change the profile of the car.
