Good for you Nash, I'm next. Luckily I only smoke when i'm having a beer (which can be quite often!) But I said I would quit when i turned 50, which was a ouple of months ago...got to get at it.
I know I know! Straw's make my teeth twinge and I keep poking myself with toothpicks. Going up to the cabin looking for some muleys this weekend...maybe I'll just go up without and see how it goes....
Hey, you've done the survival course with the AF...just what CAN you smoke out there in the bush...:)
Ah...what it would be like to enjoy a guilt free smoke once again!
I made the big mistake of going from smoking to gum and now I can't get off the things. I don't think about smoking anymore just chewing....and now i'm on 10 a day..plus it is costing me a fortune. I used to smoke rolling backy at £3 per week, now i've got a gum habit of over £15 a week.
To those who can get clean off the nicotine for ever...well done I salute you!

Is that still gum with nicotine in it...after 21 years!? That'll probably be me though..a 21 year old nicorette gum habit with a 58 year old leaking firebird...if the good old English rain doesn't get it first!

The gum began to burn my throat after two weeks, so I had to give that up pretty quick. Now its just sugar-free gum a few times a day.
David, you mean the SERE Course, when you are behind enemy lines and on the run? You can't smoke or chew anyhting out there, the dogs will pick up your trail too easy. SURVIVE-EVADE-RESIST-ESCAPE.

All right, glad to see you still aren't smoking Nash, great job! I'm a chain chewer myself, not because I quit smoking 13 years ago, because I'm trying to cut my food intake.
I haven't ate fast food for years, and try to drink plenty of water.. but too often after a long day, I open the bar, there is a pretty bottle of Crown winking at me, I think, "go ahead", then I have another one, and another...
Nash, I have to not smoke for at least a day when I go out bow hunting. The little devils can smell you a mile away, even if you are downwind it seems. I think they took the same course !
Johnny, awesome photos on the signature, going to swing over to your website again to have a boo at then (and the others
I hear you my friend. I gained five pounds in the last six weeks since quitting smoking, all while continuing my normal workout. I am one hungry SOB all the sudden!
Already worked the numbers, I need to run another 10 minutes everyday and it'll all burn off by November. Just takes a little counter-balance plan to get back on track.
Now, tell me about your LB RARE manifolds and what parts and pieces I need to order for this winter project.

Dave, that is true about hunting. You can skip a shower for a week, but god help you if you've been drinking or smoking prior to a hunt. My hunting buddies swear chewing tobacco doesn't give a hit on the deer, but I think otherwise.
Now that I'm smoke-free, my pals are trying to claim that I am TOO clean, and that the deer will pick up on that! Its fun living in the heartland of America.

Been a while since I visited. No good excuses, I've just been really busy with work, kids, vacation ect.
Coming up on one year in October for me. Gained 20 lbs but thats the next hurdle. Good luck giving up the devil sticks. Sure is a great feeling to be free of them...again lol
Thanks everyone, I have been cheating on you a little bit, went dancing at PY, there is alot of good folks over there and a couple of bad apples I took a bite out of, but FGF was my first love and nobody can ever replace that.
The dyno folks, and even Jim Hand chimed in, the LB cost me horsepower. I still hit 410. Hammered has them on his motor and he hit over 500hp I think?
But I love them, clean install, look good, and 3" all the way back to the bumper.
and FYI, I quit smoking on 2 different occassions prior to my final victory (Dec 2, 1992). Both times before it was for several months. You have to keep your guard up, I told myself "just one" and that was my demise. So you just can't go back, it's a filthy dirty habit. Seems you are noticing how offensive it is now too.
Does the wife kiss you more? I played that trick for awhile, "I want a cigarette, kiss me"
Early bow season is over, so now will go out with the .270 or 300WM (won't need to be as squeeky clean). Besides, when I get up a big ridge I usually smell like the forest anyhow.
Johnny, good ta hear you went for the LB's from Paul@RARE.
Anyone putting that filter adapter on watch you don't snap your allen wrench off when trying to tighten that inner bolt. I did and it was a [censored] to pull the broken piece out of the bolt head without dropping it in the adapter or worse the engine!
It's my wife that wants me to quit, maybe I'll get more than a kiss if I feign that I'm about to fall off the wagon....
Good Job Brent, that means it was OVER a year you last visited! B/C I remember you going "outside"....lol
Bjorn,
I actually sneaked into town for a one day meeting the first week in August. Sorry but it was in & out and no time to play. With the oil boom it has been nuts here.
Winter is coming so things should get back to normal
P.S. I love the new layout of the website and forums. Geoff outdid himself.
