Does anyone know if 67 code A Starlight Black was a Special Order Paint. There is a 67 on ebay now that the owner says its oh so rare because its factory Black. Is this true? I thought that Black would be a regular available color and not special order. Anyone know for sure.
There were a few special order colors but code A Starlight Black was not one of them. Some colors only offered in the spring.
Some where I have a complete list of the color codes with chips for the 67's. When I find it I'll scan and post.

I know what car you are talking about and the guy has it bragged up(erroniously). The really funny part is that you can tell he asked himself a question and answered it then posted it. LOL
Q: Hi, Your Firebird is rare with the special order option color and the fold down back seat. Could you please tell me (its hard to see in the photo) if the decklid has holes drilled for the rear spoiler? Do you have the rear spoiler for the car? Thanks... Sep-22-06 A: Yes the deck lid is drilled for a spoiler but that was sold along with the hood buy the previous owner ..thank you for your interest..Barry
Yea Jim, thats the car I'm referring to. When I read it I was like what the **** is he talking about, I never heard Black being a special order. It does appear to be a decent project 400 car though especially up here in the northeast. It seems like everyone on ebay has a rare one of a kind car out there.
The car is on Long Island, probably about 2 1/2 hours from me. Maybe I'll check into it after the auction ends. From dealings I've had from other people there I've learned that Long Island is a totally different world and has alot of strange individuals.
What if the guy (previous owner)needed cash and did not want to sell the car, do you not think he would sell the hood for a few bucks and hope to replace it later with another 400 one or just a plain hood? I personally do not see anything funny about this auction other than he is under the impression that it was a rare paint colour. The bidding doesn't look awry either.$2500 doesn't seem to be out of line for that car IMO. No offence Jim, but i wish i could find a car pretty complete and (looks to be solid)like that today for $1K although i have bought two (check definition for d'oh!!!) for $500 each 15 years ago.

David, Since when does a buyer ask a question and first tells you how rare the car is???? And the guy asking the question has the same erronious info as the seller?? He's obviously asking himself questions to promote the car. Then he's so confident that the car will get bids that he doesn't have a reserve. There's a lot of circumstancial evidence that the seller has multiply ID's being used on the auction. Multiply ID's being used by a seller is never a good thing. LOL
Sounds kind of sketchy, but it doesn't sound like he's any more "out there" than half the sellers on eBay... just another reason to do all your homework and check it all out in person or to have it checked out. People go to extremes to sell things these days...
I try to be as up front as possible, so there are no questions. But that's just me... I like his "creative" spelling too. "FRONT TYRE ARS BRAND NEW BFG"
I inquired to the seller and got a bunch of photos. Original California car, A.I.R. 400, Hydramatic, originally had 8 track, has power drum brakes and power steering. Has some rust but it's a good restoration project. Info on the engine is sketchy, my assumption would be that it is not matching as the engine is out of the car and at a shop for rebuild at present.
From his writing it appears he may be Australian, so TYRE is correct, as is COLOUR.

Vikki, hence the name "aussiebj" Jim, how do you figure the bidders and seller are one and the same? I cannot seem to put the two together from the info ebay provides or digging into the info of the bidders and seller. I can go into any auction and see multiple bidders and unless they have a 0 feedback or go absolutely crazy on the bidding on a $5 part,do i ever consider them to be shilling.Yes shill bidding is unfortunately a part of too many ebay auctions but it is a fact of ebay and will continue to be a part of ebay.At this point it ($2500)does not look too bad for what is presented IMO.Now if it were.As for the reserve, maybe he is confident he will get what he is looking for or he could pull the auction if it is not (however unethical it may be) what he expects it to fetch.

I wound't say it's correct... it may be an acceptable spelling if he were listing it from down under, but considering... personally, I wouldn't consider it to be correct. - B!
David's Quote: Jim, how do you figure the bidders and seller are one and the same?
I didn't say that they were. I said that the guy used a different ID to ask himself a question through the eBay system. That's the only way it gets posted at the bottom like that. If you follow me on that then you can see that it's possible that he could also bid with the ID he asked the question with. I agree with Brett that most auctions are just as crooked as that. My point really was that the car may not sell if any or all of the bids are not good, serious bids. That was where I came up with the idea of contacting the seller after the auction with a $1000 offer. He may be sitting there without a buyer at all and just want to get rid of it. The market is a little tight right now.
Exactly! You need to follow the clues. Take an internet electronic nightmare and turn it into a regular, backyard, I give you cash for your 'Bird deal.
Jims Quotes: "I would be skeptical about how fair the bidding will be when he's already asking himself questions. Shows that there's multiple identities going on and that could mean fake bids"
"There's a lot of circumstancial evidence that the seller has multiply ID's being used on the auction. Multiply ID's being used by a seller is never a good thing. LOL "
Not to get into a pissing match about it Jim as it really doesn't matter but these two quotes are the reason for my rebuttals maybe i read too much into them.

David, I think the difference between our interpretations of what I wrote can be summed up; I was outlining the possibility of fake bids and you were taking it to mean that there were already fake bids. I wanted to make the distinction between the two stances. When I said that multiple ID's were being used, I meant they were being used to ask himself a question, not that they were neccessarily being used to bid, as of yet.
The only point I was trying to make is that he asked himself a question which means control of a second ID. With control of a second ID there is potential for bidding with this second ID.
I would also like to make a counterpoint to your comment about not needing a reserve because he could simply pull the item off if the bidding didn't get high enough; Pulling an item doesn't really work very good because you can't end it in the last 24 hours. In the last 24 hours is when you get your most bids, usually. So, if he were to pull it before the last 24 hours, he would never really see the potential of the item. It would be more effective for a crooked seller to use the fake ID that he used to asked the question with to pump up the price. If he gets enough bids he will not ever have to cross the line into the unethical side of the auctioning. It's like having a loaded weapon. I wanted to point out the loaded weapon.
Finally, everything that I wrote was written to help educate anyone that may not already know the ins and outs of a crooked eBay auction. I'm a firm believer that if we all know the tricks, the tricks become much less effective and we all win by the prices not being pumped up artificially. We all know that the prices get high enough on a fair auction.
And Barry(the seller), It's obvious that you are watching this thread. Nothing you have posted(in your questions and answers) makes the car an HO. You would need the PHS for that. And for the record, I didn't say that you are crooked. I just pointed out that you asked yourself a question and answered it.
