WEll the fun is over. At least in two days up here. Going to pull the engine and start over. Send the torque converter to TCI and have them redo. Stalls at 2000 now but they will set it at 3200 to 3500. Next put on 7 Quart Mildon pan. I really love the look of that hanging out. Next have the eng. compartment painted body color. And have both doors redone. Well thats enough. How about your Plans??
New 1/4 panels, fenders, & engine work. Same as the summer work, only getting closer. Goal= leaving the barn under it's own power & ready to paint. Hpoefully there's enough weekend hours in one winter to accomplish this. Oh,yeah, frame rails also.&&&&&&&&&&&
Roll Bar install, front disc brake change-over, builing and installing the cal tracs, color sand and shoot a couple new coats of clear, rebuild(hot rod) the 800 Qjet. Interior is coming out this weekend so I can get started. Yeah, I don't think winter will be long enough.
Find out why i have no power at fuse's for radio, lighter, and wipers(actually next to do list). Build a separate block for ignition, f-pump, n2o, line lock and shift lite. Maybe strip body for repaint, w/strip's, and chrome. New vinyl roof? Need to start on 700HP eng build.
Want to start on GTO. Needs w/shield, belt seal strip's, carpet, and repaint. Oh ya, assemble a stock RAIII 400 for it, and probly switch trany's and rear gears.
Or shall I say near presentable and drivable...it'll never be 100%. I expect to leave the top and frame till last and drive it a bit with only the tonneau cover on...
right now removing the muncie 4speed and BOP rear axle and building a Th350 for it as well as installing a moser 12 bolt(non c clip) rear.while its apart i am installing a set of caltracs and caltracs rear springs and moroso front springs.I cant believe after barely 500 miles on the 2 1/2 rear restoration i am tearing it back apart.
PS: if anyones interested the 4 speed and rear axle(bop w/ 3.90 gears) as well as the rear springs, traction bars and shocks, all new with 500 miles on them are for sale please feel free to inquire.
Rarely gets up past 70' in the garage? It has to get up to at least 70' in the garage before I step out into it. Ahhh, I can do it a little lower. I can handle down around 60 to 62. One nice thing is that it the coldest it ever gets is 52', even when the outside temp is in the low teens.
I put up the insulation I had mentioned in an earlier post--104 bucks! I haven't been able to give it a decent test, but I'n not biching (incorrect spelling to thwart the [censor]) about the temp not dropping low enough for the real test. So far, it seems that the stuff really makes the heat bounce off the concrete walls. The r-factors are hazy formulas depending upon the application. One thing that it claims is that it reflects 98% of the heat or a similar percentage. That is my goal: When I go in the garage and fire up the heat, I want it to warm up quickly, rather than heat sinking the block for however long. I don't know whether or not it will offset any heating costs, but it gets toasty quickly, something I need for piddeling around for a few hours on weekday evenings.
Got all of the fab work done on the roll bar. Have to paint it and weld it in. Feels good to have that almost done. It's been in the corner for year already. Cal tracs next.
