I'm definitely changing my 'bird back to Poncho Power but since the car doesn't have any of the original running gear, does it make any sense to go with an original 69 400 block?
For me, its emotional, I want it because I want to be able to say it has a correct engine, but I'm going to back it up with a 700R4.
Also anybody have any experience with the Dude in Florida? I'm thinking of getting one of his 400's if I don't go with an original.
I've had good experiences with "The Dude" and would recommend him.
I know someone who wasn't happy with a motor he built (that's an understatement). But, another builder got in picture and I think the owner was influenced to a degree by the other builder. Whatever the problems, the owner never went back to the Dude to set it straight.
If you're going to go nationally, Butler seems to have a stellar reputation.
Yeah, the Dude seems on the up and up. And the prices are realistic, too. There's another site where Pontiac crates start at 9k and go way up from there. Rediculous...
JC - I like the disclaimer you put on your picture.
Thanks for the suggestions. I know of Angelucci when they used to be in Roseville, MI or maybe Fraser, don't remember. Think they can do something decent for between 4-5k?
