I saw this just closed and cannot fathom how ebay could let this auction go through. I did forward the information on to the Van Nuys, CA police, but I doubt they will even bother to look at it. (unless others send them the info too.)

What was wrong with that listing? I'm not all that familiar with the "dos and don'ts" of ebay.

Per the auction:


"i will cut what ever section you want and ship it"

obviously for a vin swap.

Selling the car is not a crime, cutting and selling the identification off the car as a condition of the sale is.

Seller should have listed the car without the "cutting clause", but too late now.

Seller and buyer know, it is the resale which is in question.

Unless it in an X-66, SS, Z28 or RS/SS,302, (COPO/Yenko) I am sure the buyer will not swap VINS.

I don't see any special options on the tag..but I am not a Camaro expert.

That year doesn't show special options on the body tag. There's a slight chance that the particular car on the auction is an SS or other special Camaro. And there is another slight chance that GM of Canada may have records for that VIN. If these two 'long shots' happen to occur than there is a market for the numbers.

That was my point Tom. The guy came right out and said he was going to commit a felony. Not very bright.

I dont see anything wrong with the way he worded it. It sounds to me like hes just offering to cut off pieces for the buyer if they dont want the whole car. Thats understandable in todays market, with Camaro parts commanding the prices they are. It sold for $102, which is way less than others Ive seen. He even states that its a parts car and isnt street legal.

Also, you have the standard eBay disclaimer about State Law that keeps everyone out of trouble.
