I own a 1968 Firebird and noticed yesterday that there is some oil in the carpet on the passenger side.

Has anyone seen this before? If so, can you share how you resolved this issue?

are you shur it is motor oil?sounds to me like it is a leaky heater core.the only way you could possibly have oil in the car is if it is refrigerant oil from your evaporater if you have a a/c car.

if it turns out to actually be motor oil, mine did this on the driver's floor. the mechanical aftermarket oil pressure guage hose sprang a leak. its plastic. i replaced it with a copper one.

Is it a convertible w power top...? Could it be haudraulic oil leaking...of course then it would also be on the rear floor...

and like sixstarved says , do you have an after mkt oil guage..?
but it could be like Terry says....water w 'prestone' or such...?

Do you have an oil leak out front at the firewall/oil filter location ? If not it is probably antifeeze from the heater core leaking like 69firebirdman said.

Thanks to every one for your advice. It was indeed the heater core. It is now fixed and I am quite happy with how well the car is running.
