Does anyone know of a web site like this for the Tempest family? Does anyone know a good source of Pontiacs (parts for sale) that came with Chevy sixes (I think '64 and '65 Tempest family cars did)?
And I dont think they came with Chevy 6`s ,they had Pontiac 6`s , OHC`s....but some Canadian models came with Chevy engines, like the "Beaumont" for instance
The OHC engine didn't arrive until 1966. Before that they had a 215 OHV six from what I remember, and I don't know how much crossover there was with the Chev sixes. What parts are you looking for?
No problem, I have to jump in whenever I can, usually the questions are already answered before I see them!
The 215 is indeed a Chev engine but it has its own unique piston size and engine displacement, and was only available in a Pontiac ('64-'65). It is the second smallest member of the family with a bore size of 3.750". The 194 is about 3.560" and the 230/250 engines are 3.875". The 194-215-230 engines all share the 3.25" stroke, with the 250 having a 3.53" stroke. The 292 truck engine was also in this family but has a taller block to go with the longer stroke needed.
You should be able to bolt in any of the Chev engines in that family with no troubles.
Try the GTOAA < http://www.gtoaa.org/ > They can point ya in the right direction anyway. BTW the '07 GTO International Meet is here in Columbus this year. I hope to see my old '68 conv.
