I finally got a look at the 326 HO that I've been waiting on, and when I got a look, the trim tag had an odd date code. Vikki's been helping me out by checking out the car, she suggested I post it here as it is really funny/odd...here's the pic:
The date code looks to read Y PIG (Y P1C). Any theories as to why? Vikki joked that the guy making the plates got a speeding ticket before coming to work lol Weird!
Are you sure it's a HO car??. According to Body tag analyzer should have M in the third group to be 326 HO.
The engine has a YM code and the engine unit number matches the PHS which matches the vin and denotes the car as an HO. Maybe it was missed? Already a strange code on there...? Or maybe you are right and it isn't a real HO...best we can tell it is but scams happen. As it stands I am not taking the car anyway but it would be good to know before someone else gets 'taken'...
As far as I know, it is just an ordinary car...the story I heard was that it was in storage since 1973 or 1983 according to the seller. It had been seized for unpaid rent and was stuck in a warehouse until last year when the current owner bought it. This is of course all per the current owner, no way to substantiate it. This is all I know. What exactly would a "mule" be? Would there be any way to tell by looking at the car that it was one? The serial number does look awfully short, didn't notice that before. And if it doesn't have an M and it should have one, then someone may have made up a clone and is trying to pass it off as the real thing. I should have said earlier that the PHS I have is a copy of the seller's copy. So I guess there could be funny business there...not that I'm starting rumors! Just suggesting it as a possibility...

A mule is a fully built car before they go into production. They were and are used as real world test vehicles. There's now way to tell if it was a mule. Most get destroyed due to legal issues. But some mules slipped through the cracks and never saw the crusher.

Well, there is a way to make an educated guess about a mule. You look under it for, NO, just kidding! Really, you look at the PHS and see where it was delivered. Sometimes there is even a hand written comment on the sheet.
