My 67 just rebuilt my ST 300 and starts cold and Runs great. Soon as its hot and turn off it starter has god juice But carb sputters and after a while it starts. What is it ????
It sounds like it could the choke or how you are starting it. Is it the 1967 well type choke? That should stay hot and wide open when the the engine is hot. How are you starting the engine? A cold engine requires you to pump the gas to set the choke and squirt some gas for starting. A hot engine you should NOT pump the gas. Just start it. Pumping the gas on a hot engine will just flood it. A warm engine may or may not start without a pump of the gas pedal. If not, only then do you give it a pump.

I’ve suspected the new gas formula that is designed for fuel injection boils in the carb and causes issues with flooding when the motor is hot and shut off. If that’s the case there’s nothing much to do about it.
