Has anyone used the stock steel replacement oil pan that Performance Automotive Wholesale is selling for $49.95 (part number CHR-7455X??) I had my new engine running for almost 5-minutes and it seems I need a new oil pan, and was wondering if this was worth buying. Heard lots of horror stories on the chrome ones. The only other thing I've found is a Miloden stock replacement for $150. Any ideas? Thanks.

I replaced my '68 stock oil pan with a '78 stock oil pan. The '78 had baffles inside to keep the oil near the sump. I think the later design rear gasket is supposed to work better as well. It doesn't leak. Everything fit, including the stock windage tray.
Hey Hammered John, Where did you get the chrome one WITH baffles?
This pan was already a newer one I had from a spare engine. Don't think I want to try another used one (as I'm now going to have to pull my engine back out to change it.) Just want to keep the cost down. Was hoping someone had tried the PAW steel one.
Tom, where did you get the Canton one, and do you recall the cost? I haven't seen that one.
Thanks.

That Canton Road Race pan looks nice, but a bit more than I can aford to spend. Nash, I couldn't find anything on-line from Kauffman. I'll have to order one of their catalogs. Summit has a chrome one for $95 but it says it doesn't have any baffles.
So, no-one's used the cheap PAW steel pan?

I ordered one of the cheap unpainted steel oil pans from PAW. It looks fine to me. I haven't had chance to get on my engine yet but comparing it to an old pan I had laying in the shop, it looks good.
