Referral for engine repair shop in SE Michigan?

I am having a serious grinding starter issue and concerned that my flywheel is damaged. I don't have the resources in my home garage to tackle this issue. The engine is a 465 CID Pontiac (428 block). My engine builder is sick and cannot help. Can anyone direct me to a good shop preferably in Macomb or Oakland county.

You probably have a starter spacer issue. Either too many spacers or not enough of them.

2nd that. Just pull the starter to check for flywheel damage. If none, then check the clearance and shim it correctly.

This starter has been working flawlessly for a number of years. Why would clearance now be a problem?

Can't you just pull the inspection cover and check the flywheel?

Check for loose starter bolts as well.

The flywheel will not wear out, especially suddenly, if you have had no starter issues.
