Apparently I'm not allowed to post picture in the "Parts wanted" section, so I continue here. This was the original thread: https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=241902#Post241902Here are a couple of pictures, as promised. The sheetmetal housing for the speedometer is also different, it has a connector where the wire from the speedo connects to on the inside, and the wiring harness connects to on the outside.

Thanks for the pictures!!! That looks awesome!!! I will continue to hunt for one. Do you want to get rid of the metric unit?
Also is that a power top switch or a power antenna switch on the left side of your dash? It looks higher then the top switch does or is it a defroster switch? I have a defroster but since I bought a convertible there is no place to put the actual defroster unit.
I am also looking for a power antenna switch if you know anyone that has one Thanks

I plan to keep the metric speedometer. I first intended to put it in my car, but found that the mileage meter (is that the right word for it in english?) wasn't working, so I ended up using the original speedometer.
The switch is for rear defog, but is not positioned right on the dash. I just use it to fill the hole, I have no defroster in the rear.

It looks good. If you have the body manuals it is actually in one of 3 correct places. The body manual shows up to 3 switches there, Power Antenna, power convertible top and defogger, although they did not make a convertible with a defroster switch but the book shows the 3. I have a defroster I bought for my coupe but now that i found a convertible I think I am going to abandon my coupe project and concentrate on the vert. But I am on a hunt to add the options it does not have. like the power antenna, the safe guard speedometer and cruise control. If you ever decide to get rid of the unit please let me know and again thanks for the great pictures!!!
