A few questions: What is the correct gold color for the interior paint on a 67 convertible, and any code/part/product numbers for it ? Are there any specific gloss level(s) ? Is everything gold - even the inside portion of the gauges ? Any brand of paint better than the others ? Thanks,

When I did the resto on my '67 a few years back, the bodyshop did a color-match from my existing dash paint. It matched about 95% in my opinion. The main dash has about a 60% gloss. The top dash color was almost a brown color, with maybe a 30% gloss. (the brownish color matches the brownish color of the dash pad. the dash pad color does not match the interior color.
I think Vikki had some '67 interior color info on her website, but for some reason I did not find it helpful. (but I can't remember why)
There should be some pictures on my photobucket if you want to look.

So I wonder what the top of dash color was? I don't see a dark gold or brown color listed...

Thanks for the link, just what I needed. Any info. on if the inner areas of the gauge carrier were the same color as interior, or a flat/low gloss black ?

Not sure where you mean here. Under the clear cones? Flat blueish-black under there.

The inner part of the plastic carrier that the clear cones sit in, on out to the "chrome" trim ring of the gauge circles.(This would be more like my hood tach, which is black on the inner surface from the glass out, but body color on the exterior)

i did mine in gold you have to color match a sample in a base and add aditives for adheason to plastic and be sure to use a good cleaner/promoter or it will be a pain to color right. the door panels are repops and the rest was a search for the nicest quality and fit. the dash is a original recolored to match the rest. i still have to color the pillars and install the belts. just lazy i quess

Thanks for the prep tips on the dash plastic. It appears that I will also end up having to paint the kickpanels, seatbacks, console, pillar moldings, assist handle - are all these plastics prepped the same way ? Any chance I can get the dash pad back to gold (now black), rather than buy a gold repro ?
Also see in your pictures that the inner parts of the gauge carrier are black, did you paint these and if so, is it a flat black ?
Thanks for the help,

Pillar mouldings for a '67 'vert are bright chrome. Mine were faded terribly and looked to be gold, but that's all that was left of the chrome finish.
I bought new repops, and they fit reasonably well. The bottoms need to be ground off to fit. 20 mins. each side to grind and fit the bottoms...

When I redyed/painted many of my interior plastic and vinyls I spent much more time on prep than on the painting. 40+ years of dirt, protectant (e.g. Armorall), sweat, etc. is embedded in every surface. I first scrubbed everything with soap (Dawn) a couple times. Then I used plastic prep and vinyl prep products a couple times.

I will 2nd that. Easy to put on nice new shinny paint, another story to make it stick for more than 6 months.
You can use a eco-friendly degreaser and products like PRE from Eastwood to clean and prep body panels or plastic. Also use prep products specific for plastics.
Old chrome pieces can be restored. Repro's don't always fit or look the same.

Definitely want it to stick ! So if I am understanding correctly, everything on the interior should be gold except the pillar post moldings(chrome),"upper instrument panel"(the dash/dash pad - midnight champagne) and the 2 inside portions of the gauge housing(flat black) ?

There are other various parts that are black here and there. Did you look through the pictures on my photobucket? There are a bunch of before, during, and after resto on there for my Coronado '67 restoration.

thanks i know, my wife say finish it.. there are some great products that will make that dye stick on permently. i have had no problems other that some of the oer products that still have the residue on them. i seems that they clean some items and not others. you have to get a mold release agent from the auto paint shop. that is the only way i found to make it work but i still had some spot issues on the oer parts so i had to reclean them agian and that did the trick. nothing is worst than putting tons of hours and having that [censored] come off!!! i wish that the f--king company's would at least color dye (other than black) at least some of the f--king small parts off the line it would be a blessing to say the least.
