A guy in Chino, CA needs a crate engine or even a good rebuildable block, for a '74 Bird he is restoring.
Only Pontiac engine builders I know of, anywhere close to there, are in Phoenix.
Any of you guys know where he might find a decent Pontiac engine, for a reasonable price ? Don't think he's building a hot rod. So, a good 350 or 400 will probably do.
He's inquiring on another forum. So, if you guys have any good leads, post the info, and I'll relay it to him.
From what I've seen, he could have something shipped from the East coast, cheaper than buying from Frank. Looks like a rip off place to me. Have never done business with Frank. Just going strictly from the prices on his website. I suppose that's great for Frank, if he can sell for those prices. But not a guy I'd recommend on a forum, unless it was the last resort.
If any of you guys have bought any good rebuildable blocks and/or heads from Frank, lately, for a reasonable price, please post that info. Thanks !
Anybody bought from Pontiac Heaven ? Have never seen any price on parts, or any particular parts listed, on the site.

What do you consider a good price? Last block I sold was a 1973 standard bore 455 block for $600
Yeah, that's reasonable. But Frank wants $1200 for one. He even wants $650 for one that is already .060 over, and needs 8 sleeves. IMO those are ridiculous prices ! Therefore, I will not recommend Frank.
The Spotts site shows 400 blocks for $400, & 455 blocks for $600. But, he's in PA. Probably cost $250-$300 or so to ship.
Len Williams was mentioned. He has the lowest crate engine prices I've seen, and supplies the block. For a CA guy, a Len Williams engine will probably be the cheapest thing he could buy, even with the shipping charges added. But, a lot of guys are afraid to buy long distance, in case a problem should arise. There is a risk involved. The Pontiac guys in AZ can build a good engine, but the price will probably be at least twice the Len Williams price, if not more.
Don't think I've ever bought anything from Frank's. Just mentioned it because they're both in the same general area and I figured he does have Pontiac engines. It wasn't a recommendation. Just a suggestion.
Just make ABSOLUTELY sure he does not get involved with Bruce Fulper at Rock and Roll Engineering which is nearby in CA. Dudes a train wreck and legend in his own mind. LOTS of bad press about him at the old Pontiac Years forums.
It's unfortunately the engine remanufacturing firm my wife worked for here in PHX before we ventured east went out of business. I got my 455 block cheap.
Hemmings Muscle Machines did recommend these guys in the last issue for a Ford crate engine for a guy in France. Having just moved back to AZ I know nothing about them:
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
The Pontiac engine builder with the best rep, in AZ, is Paul Carter, at Koerner Racing engines, in Tucson. But his engine won't be cheap. He goes by the name GTOfreek. Has a group FB page & posts on the PY forum.
I have never bought an engine from either of these guys. Just passing on info. My neighbor builds my engines. But Louisiana is a bit to far from CA, to recommend him.

Hey,
I have a running 400ci out of my 69 firebird that I will be pulling soon, and replacing with a rebuilt engine. If the guy is interested have him contact me and I am sure we can work something out. I am in the Norwalk CA area, so not too far from him. The engine is still in the car so he can hear it run before he takes it with him.
