STANDARD BODY FEATURES

 Heater and Heater Controls

Heater and Heater Controls – Catalina, Executive, Bonneville and Grand Prix. 1968 heater improvements include a new center defroster duct, which provides increased air distribution to the windshield. Heater position is controlled by the “Select” knob at left of control panel. These positions, indicated in the “Select” window, are: “Off,” “Low,” “Normal,” “Rear or “De-ice.” The blower operates only when “Normal,” “Rear” or “De-ice” positions are selected. The “Temperature” control, on the right, controls the temperature, which is indicated in the “Temperature” window.

  Heater and Heater Controls

Heater and Heater Controls – Tempest, Tempest Custom, Le Mans, Tempest Safari and GTO. All-new in shape and size, with larger heater case and larger heater outlets. Defroster outlets have been lengthened to 12 1/4 inches to provide a greater volume of air to the windshield for faster, more efficient defogging and defrosting.

The fully illuminated, vertically mounted control panel features a sliding temperature-control lever at left and an air-flow-control lever at right. The 4-position “on-off” switch is mounted between the two levers at the base of the panel.

Heater Conrols - Firebird

Heater Controls, Radio Provision and Ashtray – Firebird. The centrally located heater controls, radio provision and ashtray are mounted in a burl wood grained appearance trim plate framed by a bright metal molding. The heater utilizes three horizontal sliding control levers. The top lever controls air flow and blower motor, the middle lever regulates temperature, and the lower lever directs air flow through the defroster outlets.
