Speaker Locations 1969

Short answer: It depends on the radio. AM and AM/FM (monaural) came with one dash-center speaker; you could add a single rear-seat speaker (right side in convertibles, hung on the seatback support facing the window, grille in the top-well). AM/FM Stereo or 8-track got the 4-speaker system with kick-panel fronts (convertibles had two rear speakers through the top-well, left and right).

With AM/8-track combos, the radio played the dash speaker and the four speakers played the tape. (Note: 1969 A-body stereos — LeMans/Tempest/GTO, and the Grand Prix — oddly used only one front and one rear speaker.)
