I RESEARCHED THIS ALOT BEFORE I DECIDED ON A SYSTEM. MOST CONVERSIONS SWITCH FROM AM TO FM BY TURNING THE RADIO OFF THEN ON AGAIN, SO WHEN YOU SHUT OFF IGNITION THEN RESTART IT WILL BE IN THE OPPOSITE MODE. I ASKED ABOUT BALANCE AND FADE, AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS DONE BY A KNOB ON THE BACK. THOSE REPRO UNITS LOOK GOOD, BUT REALLY EXPENSIVE. WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIREBIRD, IT HAD ONE OF THOSE "USA" AM/FM CASSETS IN IT WITH A "PONTIAC" LOGO ON IT. SOUNDS OK BUT LOOKS JUST LIKE WHAT IT IS! A COUPLE MONTHS AGO I BOUGHT A "SECRET AUDIO" AND 10 DISC CD AND PAID A GOOD BIT LESS THAN THE REPRO. I INSTALLED THEM IN THE 1959 PONTIAC CATALINA CONVERTIBLE THAT I'M RESTORING (THUS THE CAT IN CATBIRD) I LIKED IT SO MUCH THAT I JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER SET FOR THE FIREBIRD. I HAVE NOT YET HOOKED UP REAR SPEAKERS BECAUSE I AM DECIDING HOW BEST TO HIDE THEM IN A CONVERT. I CAN SAY THAT THE SOUND FROM THE TWO TINY SPEAKERS IN THE 6X9 SPACE IN THE CENTER OF THE DASH IS AMAZING. THE MAIN UNIT IS MOUNTED BEHIND THE GLOVEBOX. THE FACEPLATE IS IN THE GLOVEBOX, AND THE CD PLAYER IS IN THE TRUNK. ALL YOU HAVE THATS VISIBLE IS THE REMOTE IN HAND. THEY COME WITH ALL THE HARDWARE AND CABLES YOU NEED. FORTUNATELY THE ORIGINAL RADIO AND FACEPLATE WAS WITH THE FIREBIRD, SO I CAN PUT IT BACK TO THE WAY IT LEFT LORDSTOWN. GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE.....JOHN
