2.56 axle (weird?) Not at all. Auto trans with A/C had limited axle ratios available. 2.56 would be one of them.
wrong wheels (hubcaps?) Stock steel wheels w/covers came on more of these 'birds than ya think. Both my convertible and coupe were equipped with the same. I was lucky to find two sets of JK (correct) code RallyII wheels for both my '69's. And I still have the steel rims and covers when I feel the need to dress down.
Commuter car... It can be if ya can keep your foot out of the secondaries. Or the other option is to find another FGF with the OHC-6. Two 'birds is much more fun. But I'll bet your wife won't think so. Good to see another '69 400 there catch22, welcome aboard!
