I for one have been there, but I never let myself get that deep in.

I think there was a matter of poor judgement, though, that places several people in the uncomfortable position of waiting for a chance of regaining what was rightfully theirs to begin with. The actions that led up to that are all that I have issue with. It's not about favors that were willingly extended, it's about collecting for goods never delivered.
