Howdy
No expert but it sounds like a hard drive. Mine did the same thing. Major slow down, beep....beep....beeps and finally crash no activity. This happened over a few days not all at once. Hard drive replaced and back in the saddle again.

I should have listened to those beeps.

If its not to late you should back up everything while you can.
