I am considering an electronic ignition conversion for my stock '68 bird distributor. But a few questions.
What is the preferred kit and why?
What about any necessary matching components such as a coil?
Should I even use a stock distributor? Thinking about wear, ect. ?
I also have an HEI that I am unsure if I will have adequate firewall clearance. This is to be checked.
Some of the same questions apply to curving kits and the like.
I have never done as much detail with my old HEIs as I hear about here. What parts are needed to give the adjustment range of mechanical advance. I assume there is an adjustable vacuum advance out there, so again, which one?
Any other tips you can give me? I searched the forums and there is conflicting info as to what works well and why.
For use, the car is a street car. Cruiser. 9:1 tame ride. So, I don't need a crank triggered, locked out beast.
Thanks!!
Dave
