Ahh. Parts were new. Ordered them from Transtar, asked for highest gear ratio for a BOP. He sent me parts for GM. That's what screwed me up. Had a great convo with Terry, and in the end, decided to follow his advice and return the ring and pinion and put the 355 that was in there back.
See, when Beav got this car, the rear end had been upped to the 355 already. All well and good, except the guy who did the installation shouldn't be anywhere near a car because he put the seals in backwards (springs out), which pushed the seal right up against the crush ring, which of course caused major melting. Shoot, the axle seals were chewed up bad too. Same thing, put together backwards. So I had to get the bearing and seal kit anyway for this new ring and pinion, so I'm going to keep it. I'm going to try and return the parts to transtar, and if I can't, just sell them on ebay or something to try and recoup my moolah. Since there wasn't any damage or anything to the old ring and pinion, they're fine. Should be on the road again by tomorrow.
