The spacesaver instruction sticker on the inside of the decklid has the cardboard style canister pictured, so my guess is that is the correct one. My guess (without having opened it) is that the aluminium bottle in the cardboard tube was originally a cheaper, disposable type, which was discarded after use and replaced with the red steel canister. But could you choose the refill bottle as an option when ordering the car?

In an earlier thread I posted a picture of 67Firebirdnorways original space saver tire and bottle. I hope it's ok with him to post it again for reference.


I sold him one of my bottles, (still got two left). The only difference between 67-69 is the sticker, which is repoed.
