I lost my rear u joint one morning going to work(late again) on the rich/san rafael bridge. Speedo said 95 when I looked down and the gear shift was vibrating wildly. Let off the gas and it sounded like a shotgun went off underneath the car. Looked in the rearveiw mirror and saw my driveshaft doing the bouncy bounce behind me. Must have really freaked out that vw bug that ran over it. Wasted both mufflers and I had to find a new driveshaft. THAT sucked. Still no loop. I learn the hard way.
I replace the U joints in my 67 Mustang in 1970, in the carport of my then apt....tested it , drove down the drive between bldgs , stepped on it hard and SMACK!...it came loose...evidently I didnt do it correctly , it was too tight under there with just the Mustang Jack.... bought another set , this time made sure it was done right! and then used a hammer to undo the rear floor boards fresh upward shape! I also took chunkls out of the driveway...but didnt put any fresh concrete in...lol
