Its pretty hard for me to commit, especially since my car has been unfinished for the last 10+ years, but this would be a great motivation to get it completed and take a family road trip to such an event. However, to have any chance to do such a road trip, we'd need to be able to make the round trip in about a week, so I definitely recommend a central location, such as Colorado.
