I put a Flaming River column in my car because I wanted a tilt. My car was originaly a floor shift model.

The column itself works great. The problem is getting it to work with the stock bracket that bolts the column to the bottom of the dash. Several years ago when I did the swap, all they had was a generic "hot rod" billet aluminum collar that would bolt to the bottom of the dash. I had to take very careful measurements and have a professional welder put SS pieces on my column and then drill and tap holes so I could use the OEM column bracket. The guy builds custom motorcycle frames for a living so he did a fantastic job. Not only could I use the OEM bracket but the OEM plastic trim pieces that hide that bracket (what I wanted)

What I am saying is that the column can be made to work to look like stock. But it takes some expert work.

But then, maybe they make a better bracket these days.
