I checked the frame for Square and length point to point and it was dead on. My motor still would not go back far enough to bolt into the motor mounts.
I ended up unbolting the trany mount and then it went right into place and the trans then slide back to a point where the trans mount would not bolt up to the cross member. I had to drill new holes in the trans bushing bracket backing to get it to bolt up. What is wrong with this picture? The bolt holes had to be moved back about a 1/2 inch to make it work. The motor seems to sit about right in the engine compartment. I have a after market th400 cross member for my th400 trans. The trans was in the car previously bolted up to a pontiac 350. Confused!! this happen to anyone else?
