Does anyone have a good recommendation for a firewall insulation pad? From what I've read, a lot of people have some trouble getting them to fit right.
I ordered the higher quality molded pad from Ames (FA382A) made by Quiet Ride Solutions, and have 2 problems with it. First, the fuse box cutout is an over-sized square rather than rectangular, and the cutouts for the fuse box mounting screws are on the wrong diagonal. Second, the pad has a metallic foil layer sandwiched between the jute and rubber to reflect heat, but at each opening, the rubber layer is cut slightly larger than the foil and jute layers, so 1/16" to 1/8" of the shiny foil is visible around each cutout.
