for casting # try 1968firebird.org there is a fairly complete illustrations manual, parts manual, and service manual there.
the rotor button turns counterclockwise, engine turns clockwise... yes. normal for these.
coolant flow is from top down.... w/p circulates from radiator to engine at bottom hose. engine provides coolant to radiator thru top hose where the thermosat housing is. all engines i know of circulate from top down thru the radiator. cant really see how it would go the other way, even if it had a reverse impellor on it from a sepentine engine, it still turns clockwise, so i would think it just wouldn't circulate... like if you put a regular pump on a serpentine/reverse engine.
impellor may be rusted, or too far away from divider, or perhaps something else.
