Pauly, congrats on the new Bird, she sounds awesome!
What I would do is do all the little things that you'll want to do for the first year or so. Then save up a bit, and buy a reproduction 400 hood, and a repro hood tach, have them painted to match the car, and put the original hood in safe storage! That way you have the best of both worlds, and it will not effect the value! You can put the original hood back on IF, God forbid you ever sell the car, and still will get your money out of the hood and hood tach as they wont devalue either. And the wiring for the hood tach will tuck out of the way when not used.
The A.I.R. system (Air Injection Reactor) is hard to find parts for and or replace. By all means keep it, but you can remove it, clean it all up, box and again store it away for safe keeping! Do you have the original red sticker on the right of the radiator core support bracket for it? If so I'd love to see a couple pictures of it. I have a picture of an original, but in poor shape.
To post pictures, go to a free picture hosting site like: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com or http://photos.msn.com/ and follow their instructions, sing up, and you can up load pictures directly from your PC or a picture CD in your computer to an on line photo album, and then can share the link (web address) to that album with your friends and family etc...
If you need more help on that let us know and we'll help, as I'm sure there are lots here that would love to see your new Bird!
