If this is the 'folded up' version of hood insulation, you might as well throw it away now. You will be within a week or two anyhow.
The only version that is decent is the full size 'pre-moulded' version.
I can't believe they still sell the other version after so many complaints.
If yours is the pre-moulded one, the smoother side does go against the hood metal. The bottom side has a coarser, fiberglass look.
